This piece is titled Fettered (Hedge). It is 37" tall, 25" wide and 24.5" deep.

As usual it is made from rebar and rolled steel.  The center part, made from rebar, was the original sculpture but I decided I needed it to be higher but I don't like pedestals. I like the end result so much I intend to do many more rebar sculptures with the geometric enclosures. This affords me a way to make the twisted rebar without having to make sure they can stand up on their own. I can  make several that connect together. The possibilities are endless.

This piece represents the strange things people do to plants, namely shape them unnaturally into hedges, and grow them where they cannot thrive without ridiculous amounts of water. The hedge in this sculpture is suspended unnaturally in its environment and fettered by human need to make plants conform to odd notions of what nature should be.
